New Regulations, New Packaging 

As an example of a ‘packaging pivot’, New Jersey recently added Shelf Life Testing to their cannabis packaging regulations.  The industry standard for airtight cannabis packaging testing is USP-671 which certifies that packaging is airtight. New Jersey has added packaging regulations to their market that include expiration dates, meaning that the expiration date cannot be later than six months from the manufacture or cultivation date. Moreover, some states have required other new thresholds in their packaging, like New York, which designates a sustainability criteria. New York’s cannabis packaging laws require packaging to be made of 25% PCR at minimum.
